We're seeking a motivated and commercially minded State Account Manager to take ownership of sales development and relationship management within a defined state territory. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in retail travel, account management, and business development who thrives in a results-driven, autonomous environment.
About the Role
This role plays a vital part in executing the company's broader sales strategy at a state level. The focus is on generating revenue through proactive engagement with travel agencies, direct consumer groups, and special interest markets. Working independently but in alignment with national goals, you'll identify growth opportunities and ensure consistent brand presence across your region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategies to grow state-based sales and meet revenue targets
- Manage and grow travel agency accounts through regular engagement and training
- Identify and convert group and niche market opportunities in trade and direct channels
- Represent the brand at consumer events, expos, and information sessions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with consortia and key industry partners
- Plan and coordinate state-based events and activities
- Track sales performance and adjust strategies based on data and insights
- Manage the state sales budget and ensure return on investment
- Deliver product training and act as a regional expert
What You Bring to the Role:
- A passion for travel and deep industry insight
- Previous front-line retail travel experience is essential
- Proven success in a sales or business development role
- Strong communication and presentation skills, confident in delivering both in-person and virtual sessions
- A self-starter with the confidence to work independently
- Ability to influence and build trusted relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Proficient in CRM tools, sales reporting, and data analysis
- Experienced in managing budgets and achieving performance targets
- A reliable vehicle and relevant insurance, in accordance with company policy
